1. Breathe deep.
Connect with yourself. Slowly inhale and exhale. Really focus on inhaling the oxygen and appreciating it.
After, or while, you deep breathe - start meditating. Pick your positive thoughts to focus on and clear your head of all other negative messages and energy.
3. Open up your senses.
Pay attention to the world around you. Feel the wind brush up on your skin, listen to the trees sway and the traffic going by, try to pick out the vivid hues and variations of color in the sky, smell the rain in the air...
4. Talk with an old friend
There's nothing like a good talk with an old friend who has been there with you throughout many years. Call her up and start talking about memories and the old good times. Trust me, it'll do you good.
5. Go outside
Get outside - whether it is the morning, afternoon, or evening - and look up towards the sky. There is nothing like watching a sunset or sunrise, or gazing up at the clouds or the stars at night.
6. Get active
Do something physical that you enjoy - walking, jogging, pilates - and really focus on the activity.
7. Go to the beach or anywhere with water.
There is nothing as relaxing or peaceful as sitting by water - be it a lake, river, or ocean. Something about water puts everything back into perspective.
8. Do (or make) something new
Whether it is cooking a new recipe or checking out a new store - try going somewhere or experiencing something new. It will require more brain activity that the same old, same old...which in turn, scientifically, makes it feel like time is slowing down since you are paying closer attention to what it is going on around you and requiring more effort from your brain.
9. Do something that you enjoyed as a kid
Pick out something that you enjoyed when you were young - to the point of losing track of time - and do it again.
10. Slow down
Whatever you do for the rest of the day, slow down and pay attention. Really enjoy it, whatever it is. Even the little things that don't usually mean much - wiping off the counters, doing errands, etc. Enjoy even the tedious tasks, as if it were your last time to do them.
11. Disconnect from technology
Shut off facebook. Turn off your phone. Step away from the laptop. It's easy to get wrapped up on the online world, that we start zoning out when it comes to reality. Take a break now and then.
